Many a thread have passed through this BB on the merits of either. I don't think there is one absolute reason for not using either. The bandsaw will definitely save you a little wood, provided you can get a smooth cut or don't care about a little extra smoothing on the boat. The table saw will cut much smoother and eliminate that step, but cuts a bigger kerf. The bandsaw is a bit slower I believe. So, it's a trade off.

I would cast my vote for a tablesaw with the thin kerf blade. Either way will work. Good luck on whichever you decide to do.
