#10 , 15oz canvas is at least as abrasion resistant as 8 or 9 oz nylon or polyester given a similar one part coating. Puncture resistance may be a different story.

All of the wear to my skin kayaks has been abrasion rather than punctures.

I have a canvas skinned kayak that is into its 6th year and still in very good shape.
