I demoed a couple of Bill's boats up in ME on a beach that was mostly rocks and mussel shells. The polyester he uses is incredibly abrasion resistant. You can drag it over the nastiest stuff you can imagine and it doesn't even scratch it. Bill literally tosses his boats around and drops them on everything without any damage (right Jay?).

Supposedly, 24 ounce polyester is touch enough to withstand blows from the claw side of a hammer without penetration! I'd say that's pretty tough.
