Ken,
Some kayak designs are really really really really really really really really really really tippy by nature. Typically these are either "surf skis" or olympic type sprint kayaks. I own a surf ski, and am building an olympic sprinter. When i first got the surf ski (Current Designs "Speedster") i couldn't even sit in it without tipping over, let alone paddle it. Now its no problem. It just takes practice. However, if you are having that much trouble, for the time being, fill a sock, plastic bag, etc. with sand and put it in the bottom of the hull (8-10 lbs. or so) this will make a big difference. Anyway, the bottom line is that it just takes practice. Don't jump into making changes in the boat, it'll be a waste of time!
