You may want to reconsider this and jsut build a C-1 from the proper plans.

I looked at the U.S olympic website and it seems the only similarities between K-1 and C-1 boats are their lengths. And there you have two choices. K1 and C-1 sprint boats are 17 feet long (5.2 m) while K1 and C1 slalom boats are 4 m long (13 feet and 1 inch)

the minimum width for a sprint K1 is 51 cm (20.08 inches) which you would have to widen substantially to achieve the minimum width of 75 cm (29.53 inches) for a sprint C1.

Since the whole idea behind these boats is to make ones which are designed for optimum speed, simply spreading the boat wider is practically guaranteed to be a poor performance compromise.

A K1 is permitted to be as light as 12 kg (or 26.4 pounds), while a C1 must be 16 kg (35.2 pounds) I'm surprised they don't have limits on the paddler's weight as well.

With slalom boats the widths and weights are closer. The K1 is 60 cm (23.6 inches) and the C1 is only 10 cm (about 4 inches) wider at 70 cm (27.5 inches) The weights of these boats are rather close at 10 kg (22 pounds) for the canoe and 9kg for the kayak (19.8 pounds). You could make up that difference easily with just some additional epoxy resin and glass but otherwise, these boats are really very different.

just a thought
