Western red cedar doesn't bend from steaming for beans. I tried soaking and it helps a little but, as I have read with the info that came with my LeeVally steamer, soaking doesn't help and can actually hurt during the drying stage. If you need to make tight bends I suggest Oak, Elm or Walnut they have the tightest bend radius's.
