Well, I am biased against tandems in general. If you are in rough conditions, the two separate allow for easier rescues if anything goes wrong. The Mill Creek is a very stable lake or easy going stream boat that might do you well. Great boat for photography and fishing. If you are doing any sea kayaking, the Mill Creek is probably not the boat for you. Check out www.pygmyboats.com or www.clcboats.com These two companies make great kits. (Go with the kits, much easier for a first timer) BTW two boats might be better for hunting, seems to me you don't want to get shot if he tracks a bird over your head
