Yes, the well used red kayak with Chrihs Cunningham's skin kayaks was the S&G Greenland that he designed and published plans for in the fall '94 issue of Sea Kayaker Magazine. I have heard there are errors, so ask for the correction sheet.

The kayak was great. It had less initial stability than the Walrus, so edging was easier. Secondary on both is great. The Greenland S&G turns easier and sharper than the Walrus, but not by too much. The Walrus tracks better even with the skeg deployed on the Greenland S&G. The Greenland S&G is faster and felt more easily driven than the Walrus. The Walrus is 17' x 22", while the Greenland S&G is 18' x 21". The Greenland S&G felt more lively on the water, I believe this is because it has more rocker, more deadrise, more flare, and is 1" skinnier.

Lengthening the Walrus by 1' would make them similar in speed, but the turning radius would go down. The Greenland S&G was also a tighter fit than the Walrus, but modifications to the deck and cockpit could help accommodate someone your size.

R2K1 changed my future kayak plans. I was planning on a strip-built Walrus based kayak and a 19'3" x 18" Baidarka, but the Greenland S&G and the King were just too sweet. While paddling these two kayaks, I felt like a much better paddler than I am. They both did exactly what I directed them to do, and they did it predictibly.
