Rough water rescue/recovery practice is a REALLY good thing for paddlers to do occasionally. Better yet, have some instructors who can give a few pointers on how to make things work better.

A couple of caveats I can think of:
1. make sure the wind/current will push boats to a relatively calm spot so if you blow the rescue in waves you'll have some backup options. (I didn't paddle the point, but it looks from shore like that tide rip peters out into calm water on a flood tide - might be good.)

2. rough water rescues entail boats getting banged and scraped around. Be sure to remind any participants of this so they won't grumble when their beautiful new boat gets scratched.
