: how much rocker is too much?

Take a look at a boat you like/dislike and use that as starting point. Length of the waterline, and bottom shape will change the effect of the amount of rocker. If you don't have any comparable boats to refer to, just go with the recommended 1.5". If you don't like the result, you can change it on your next boat.
