some more ideas - not really worked out so forgive the errors. the idea is to make the one cup method a good estimation tool and allow for overpours without measuring, and to fix the wt and resin locations on the balance so you can make a more stable setup:

so say you used a variable weight instead of a fixed one. Say you used a cup for the wt holder and water as the wt and you place it the specific gravity distance ratio on the other side of the balance. so if you wanted to end up with say 1/4 cup of resin total, you put in 1/4cup of water in the wt side and the ration distance will balance it out with the completed mixture on the other side(i know i'm mixing vol and wt a bit here so the estimate will is actually an estimate).

and there is one FIXED location for the mixture cup and on the other side 2 FIXED locations for the waterwt, one at the hardener balance and another at the total mix balance depending on the ratio of total to hardener(or resin if you want). and finally another FIXED location on the waterwt side with and empty cup the distance ratio of the hardener to the resin(not the total).

so you use it as an estimator, get the mixture, screw up and then use it as a 2 cup balance only on the screw up occasions. no number crunching or measuring, and you start off with a pretty good estimate or final volume before you start.
