: Does using microballons in the endpour and/or for fillet work make the end
: result stronger, weaker or just lighter?
: How much is too much?
: Thanks for your time, M.
My guess is that microballoons make the endpour lighter and maybe a little (in weight and coloure) and weaker depending on how thick you make the mix. If you are trying for a pygmy dam - type endpour, I reckon make the mix thick. If you are going for a Nick Schade end-o-pour I reckon runny is necessary.
The heat generated by a large lump of epoxy is outrageous. I can't remember the quote, but it goes something like 6 oz left in a cup for 10 minutes generates enough heat to boil.
On this BB a few people have had their ends (kayaks) discoloured from the heat. So to that end 2 seperate small goes at the end pour is probably better than 1 killer gloop. Somepeople put the bow in a plastic bag and plonk the whole lot into a bucket of water to disperse the heat.
Good luck
Pete
