: Speaking of end pours, I plan to do mine soon, but I'm almost out of epoxy so
: I picked up some general purpose fiberglassing resin with the little tube
: of catalyst. will it do a proper job for an end pour??

I have used polyester resins to fix a few of my surfboards. I have only used it in a thin application. What struck me about the stuff is it goes off very quickly - it is nice and runny then all of a sudden at about 10 minutes it turns to jelly and is immeadiately un-useable.

A lesson I keep learning is that some plastic containers simply are not compatable. If I use a hard-ish, greasy plastic container such as an old margarine pot, usually about 10 minutes through my wetting out I get distracted by a load gunshot-type report. When I go to get some more resin I find the bottom of my container blown off at the corners and all my polyester spewed onto the ground.

I am thus very, very gun-shy on using polyester and have very limited experience. Thus wait for somebody like Nick to pass judgement. It might be good because it goes off fast. It may be bad because it could blow the end off a plastic kayak???

Good luck

Pete
