I think by far the easiest method is to tack the tape to the hull with dots of hot glue every 6-8 inches and then drop the deck in place. The tape protrudes above the hull sheer by half the width of the tape. When wetting out the tape, it won't slide around and you'll be certain that it straddles the seam. Stretch the tape slightly as you tack it in place and you won't get any wrinkles when you're brushing-on the epoxy.
