Your rear beam idea sounds a bit heavy to me. My Terns have a 3 or 4 inch by 4 mm strip over the rear bulkhead and I believe they have designed this for a no-bulkhead scenario. I realize you are using 1/8" so you need something more than my Terns. You might need a little more support further behind your rear bulkhead than what you are planning. Like an extra layer of glass and another beam a la Pygmy.
