Mark,

What about your idea with the smaller panel...put a piece of cardboard in your boat where you want the bulkhead, use a compass to mark the shape of your hull, maybe 3/16 smaller the the i/s of your hull. Cut your panel to this shape then fit a piece of the round/tubular closed cell foam pipe insulaton around the edge of your panel, so that the panel is inside the slit, glue the ends where they join to give you a proper seal. A small bead of adhesive around the edge of your panel would keep the foam in place. Maybe a small bead of adhesive between the foam and hull just before you push it the last little bit into the proper place. Just some thoughts. And the price would be right.

I enjoyed your visit the other day, I'll give you a call next week and set up a time to see your guillimot.

Take care.

Ken

: Jay,

: Saw your response to my question about foam bulkheads. I would be interested
: in your technique to install but couldn't access your e-mail. I have a new
: idea though. What about making a flat panel of strips and cutting it
: smaller than needed. Then cut foam to fit around the edges of said panel.
: The panel inset in foam could then fit nto the boat. This would allow for
: nice looking wood and also allow for easy fit into the boat while also
: allowing some flexibility in the hull if there was an impact of any
: signifigance. I mention this because some have commented on the rigidity
: of wood bulk heads. What do you think?
