Re: steamed cowling on cockpit
In Response To: steamed cowling on cockpit (Scott E. Davis)
I make the thickness of the coaming significantly less than it's width. It would be very hard to bend a piece that is 1/4" wide but 3/4" thick. Instead you could bend a 3/4" x 3/4" piece and then slice it up into 2 or 3 thinner pieces.
: Questions: Is too much of the strength around the cockpit in the cowling to
: allow me one joint in this piece, or is the strength in the underdeck
: fiberglass?
: Is there a reason not to do this and make it like a big snowshoe?...I would
: do the lip in one piece and the other part in another.
: Thanks for any replies. - Scott
