: I would love to build myself a kayak but I hate following book directions and
: I am a tactile type learner. I need to work with somebody and see it done
: while working to feel comfortable taking on the task. Anybody know of
: somebody building beautiful kayaks in Georgia who might want some free
: labor? Also, I spend some time in the Center Harbor area of NH in the
: summer (as well as the Lexington, VA area).
: Thanks!

Hey Peyton
I hope you can find someone willing to work with you. I know what you mean about building from a book. I don't do it well. Seeing it done in person really clears things up for me.
I found a friend out near me that builds canoes and he has been a wealth of information and a good friend. We haven't worked together, but when I have a problem, I can ask him and he's more than willing to give me the Cook's Tour through the proccess, or show me a better way. It would be fun to build a boat with him, but I think I'd get in his way more than anything else. Ha! But he has offered to let me use one of his canoe forms and stand over my shoulder and keep me on the straight and narrow. I may just take him up on that some time. I've already picked his brain for lots of info, but it would still be an interesting project. Best of Luck
