Yea, my 2x4's were pretty green when I made the strongback and I wondered how good of an idea it was to seal green wood -- but it seemed to work...
Using 2x6's is a good idea -- it'll give you a larger surface for keeping things handy, like a stapler and a bottle of wood glue. I don't know how many times my stapler fell off of my strongback and probably annoyed my downstairs neighbors... (I can't wait to get a real house with a real workshop one of these days...)
