In Response To: Newfound Rendezvous Feedback (michael)

: The Fifth Annual Newfound Rendezvous is scheduled for this weekend, September
: 14th, 15th, and 16th. It is a celebration of boatbuilding and people
: powered boats. In light of the tragedy in New York and Washington today we
: (the Newfound Rendezvous Committee) are trying to determine if it is
: proper and fitting that we should be celebrating anything this weekend. We
: expect that for the next few days the nation will be in mourning and
: trying to find it's way through this tragedy.

In times of tragedy it’s good to be among friends. There’s no friendlier bunch of people than kayakers. I say go ahead with the event. Your attendance may be down a bit, but those that attend can have their spirits raised. I also think this is a pretty intelligent group of people to discuss such matters with. Their knowledge goes far beyond kayak building.
You might want to find a local relief agency that can accept donations and pass the plate around at the rendevous. Kayakers like to do good things.
