The rendezvous should go on. Otherwise the terrorists win by bringing disruption into every ordinary daily event.

Perhaps you might contact one of the other contributors to this board, Rev. Julie Kanarr and ask her if she could e-mail some sort of invocation to be read at the opening. I hate speaking for others but she has been kind about similar matters, and I always think of her as the unofficial chaplain of this board. We think of her as "one of us" and any words she might be able to offer would certainly be well received by this group.

I also support the idea of taking up a collection or raffle for a relief agency. Post an address where I can send my check.

Personally, I'll probably go donate a pint of blood in the next day or two. News report says there was a line at Chicago's Lutheran General Hospital's blood collection center today and the people there were waiting for up to 4 hours to donate before they closed the doors to new donors. Lifesource bloodbank was renting refrigerated trucks to ship the blood to the east coast.

All of me may not be able to make it to Rendezvous, but a part of me will at least make it to the east coast.
