Ruben,

I live in Costa Mesa and have the same problem western red ceder just isn't generally available here. So the answer seems to be to use redwood as an alternative. Just recently I have found a lumber yard (Ganahl) that carrys western red ceder in 2X6 & 2X8 long lengths 16', 18, & 20'. The grade is C&Better. They want almost $6.00 a bft. for it though. Another source you might try is Jackel Enterprises in Watsonville they have a web site http://jackelenterprises.com and they seem to indicate that they have both western red and alaskan yellow ceder. Hope this helps.

Scott
