That's a beautiful canoe. So nice to see a kit lapstrake canoe. I have been working on a MacGregor sailing canoe designed by Ian Oughtred, plans available from Wooden Boat Magazine. It looks similar, based on the picture and without making a comparison of hull design. The plans include marks on the forms for the lapstrakes. You can make it in 13'6", 15'8", and 17'6" versions by stretching the spacing between stations, and it comes with separate stem drawings for each length. As with any simple hull shape, you can opt to build it with strips instead. However, there is no kit form and I think the CLC would be a great idea for someone not wanting to do all the layout and cutting of building a lapstrake canoe.

Has anyone out there ever built a sailing rig for the CLC canoe? Looks like with a forward deck for strength and a leeboard it would make a good sailing canoe. Here's a pic of the MacGregor with sail, and a link to WB where you can buy the plans....
