: I'm fairly ignorant about sailing but my gut tells me that a displacement
: hull kayak and a sailing hull that can go to and past hull speeds requires
: a different shape more than just a big rig or configuration of outriggers.
True...planing dingies have wide flat runs aft to better facilitate planing. I'm not looking for a monster rig. I'm looking for a rig that can be variable in size through reefing from fairly large to next to nothing. Seamanship is important here as is prudence. Kruger kayaks makes exactly what I'm talking about building, so i'm really not out in left field--90,000 miles of paddling is a good teacher. I'm looking for rig ideas from particular boats that people know might be adaptable. Anyone out there have opinions on the matter?
