Hi Jim,
It depends. If you are going to mount it as Pete has, then you may want to add a strainer on the input end provided you have enough space. The pumps have built in flap type check valves at each end and they are all thats needed. You will also need some type of thru hull fitting for the output. These can be purchased at marine supply outlets like West Marine, but are usually plastic and may not look good on a stripper. Brass is also available and is a better looking option. Better still is to make your own, I recall seeing in a previous thread a great looking flush mount. All the boats I installed these pumps in where very low volume so there was not enough room to mount them vertically and I wanted to locate the input at the lowest point in the cockpit. If you must mount your pump horizontally then you'll may want to buy some hose from Bosworth, and a strum box from Great River Outfitters.
