The book I have is copyright 1999, second printing 2000. I didnt see an addendum so I hope its the newer book and corrected. I was really hoping to hear from someone that built the Venture.
My brother is looking to build this kayak. He likes the length but was thinking a little wider might be nice. I'll be drawing it up in a Cad program so it is easy to scale up if necessary. He's about 6' and #190. That puts him around the hi end of the optimum displacement listed. I assume it includes the the weight of the boat so that actually comes to #30 over the #200 limit assuming #40 for the boat. We paddle on pretty calm lakes and creeks so I was wondering how the boat might handle in the original design or if I should plan on scaling up 5-6%. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

: Not hard to get confused when they change the offsets between printings and
: bury it in an addendum. And we still don't know editions are in his hands.
