Dimensions agreed. I have 5/8 high by 5/8 deep lip and works great. The lip is made of 5 layers of 1/8 inch ash and spanish cedar (salvaged, a guess). These strips were abt 5/16 to start and after shaping the lip are abt 1/4 at the coaming and 3/16, maybe slightly less at the edge before glassing. I rounded the top surface of the coaming/lip to increase the contact area of the skirt. Ash seems to be able make that curve at the fore end of the coaming without steaming if it's thin.

You might also want to consider recessing the coaming, too. In addition to looking good it will protect the skirt edge from some wear and tear
