No offense taken. :) I happened to have an extra 2x4 lying around, and I only spend one evening on it doing a very quick and dirty job. You can't tell from the picture, but there is a sizable loose knot in the middle of one of the blades. What I'm trying to say is that I knew it would not be my last paddle.

The beam of my boat is 29 inches. The loom of this paddle is about 24 inches. Should the loom be the same size or larger than the beam? Or are they not really related?
