You're correct. The photo shows you off the southeast of the tip of Manhattan. The small boat house looking structures are the Staten Island Ferry terminal, further right is the South Street Seaport facing the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge. The ferries sail southeast toward Brooklyn until they're in the channel then they turn southwest and pass the Statute of Liberty on the way to Port St. Georges, S.I. Still the best free boat ride in America.
