Basically a nylon rope that runs from a U-bolt at the bow back to a deck cleat in front of the coaming, and back to the U-bolt. A clip on the line would allow me to attach a kite, or sea anchor, deploy it from the cockpit, and run it up to act on the bow.

By their nature, there is a lot of slack in the system. Secure, but not real tight.

Right, no points of attachment at the sheer.

Given my recent experience, I won't recommend them. Go for full, "normal" decklines. Yes, the running decklines work for me, but not necessarily for a person I may be rescuing...I want 100% function, not 50%.
