hi nathan

Your query started me thinking last nite about what some of the ideas that i/ve covered are. So while riding home on the bus I tried to outline some of the high points for me. While they are certainly not necessarily top ideas I still get a kick out of them. I’m sure many were written while others had really done them but hadn’t written yet(or I just never saw)

Design
-White model for washable pen strip design and layout for repeated dwg.
-Methodology for quick model making

Form Tracing
-quick internal approach with card pointers
-several external approaches for takeoffs

Building stuff

Sawhorse
-rolling, folding, double powered and series interconnectable, shelved
flat top sawhorse design and dwgs.

Strongback stuff
-rotating strongback approach
-concept of very loose forms and irrelevant strongback straightness
-double internal stringlines for speed and constant alignment
-face clamping for quick setup, adjustment and increased s/b stiffness
-concept of wedged internal strongback approach
for hotglue stapless method instead of the external less supported approach

Typical stripping
-dial/vernier caliper points for measureless exact prick fitting for tapered strips
-book matched scarfing(i/m a little unsure if george talked about this first – I think I did)
and continuous grain from tiny pces of wood
-extension of georges method of w-unfolds to varied multiply widthed book matching

Radical Stripping
-concept of lapping
-flexible steaming and steaming in place, tiny steamer setup.
-thin decorative area build up clamping methodology
-inset routing methodology and consecutive template modification
-filing in place for estimating exact slopes on radical rolling bevels
-staple bridge clamping and buttressing for thin decorative strips
-upside down spring clamping

Hatches
-concept of silicone hatch gaskets. (I’m sure others were doing it
but I think I wrote about how to do it first)
-concept of hatch rather than hull gasket
-sliding and snap gasketting using silicone
-integration of fittings and hatch hold downs – the flange web

Fittings
-explanation and much later dwgs of the inset web loop(joe probably had them way earlier, but his pic came after my dwg)
-tube fittings(others were probably out there)
-all those other fittings – inset padeyes, invisible fittings, etc in the first fitting and later reprise series
-the schady/goltz fitting

Lines
-compressed bungee ends using the covering
-simple tow line harness setup(did i post this one?)

End grabs
-insets,d-rings, pull grabs, figuredhead approaches and dwgs

Harnesses
-many harness ideas but esp the milk harness and the discontinuous bungee harness
-all the pfd leash approaches

Footbraces
-flush, quick release, bedded detachable footpeg mounts
-modification of other gas pedals for auto adjust

Paddle
-the blade drip approach

Skegs
-idea of foot actuated
-one pull/pull skeg design approach
-emergency skeg
-emergency rudder

Rescue
-all the pfd leash rescues, but espec. the first.
-the constant paddle shaft roll aid

Carts
-golf cart improvements to eliminate rotation
-nested tube t-cart approach
-all the a la carts but especially 2a
-the yak hand pull, canoe pull, and bike hitch

I’m sure there are a bunch of others as I mostly post about ideas as there is not a lot of reality that i/ve produced
Like some of the others would be those carry slings and yoke ideas, the stupid pump ideas or that cool mod to
make a nonmeasurable balance to cover any volume.

Any way they are not necessarily top or even good ideas, but some of what I wrote as concepts will be changing to reality fairly shortly.

But of course they pale to insignificance with respect to the large volume of ideas and innovative approaches by Paul, and of course Rob the founder and Nick the designer.
