Take a close look at the wood on that thing. It looks pretty weathered. I'd guess it has been outdoors and unprotected for probably 3 or 4 years.

If the wood is getting a bit deteriorated, it would probably be faster to build a new onee than to spend the time to take it apart to refinish it.

But you can sandblast the crud off and seal it with sprayed on varnish before you cover it with a paper skin and make a long Japanese lantern out of it.

It could light a boathouse very nicely, or hang it over the deck.
