In Response To: scarfing 3mm ply (Dean Trexel)
: Has anyone out there scarfed 3mm (~1/8") plywood, or is butt-jointing
: the only way to go with thin stuff? If I remember right, the scarf ratio
: is 12:1 length:thickness. That would make a standard 4mm scarf 48mm
: (~2") long but a 3mm scarf only 36mm (~1-1/2") long.
I've scarfed 3mm ply on a yare. even with the panels stacked it was hard with the plane found it easier with a sander. i belive I did 1-1/4" long worked fine.
