An adage I have heard in the repair buiz is you can fix anything, but it will always be heavier. The more "ultra-light" the object is, the more it takes on in repair as a percentage.
The good news is that it is indeed fixable as many of these good posts suggest and kayaks in general don't seem to be terribly sensitive to a couple extra pounds once in the water.
