Yes, epoxy and polystyrene foam are compatible. The stuff sold as "Dow Styrofoam" has very poor physicals; I would't use it for anything structural. Polystyrene Fabrication Billet, such as that sold by Aircraft Spruce & Specialty, has much better properties, though still pretty low strength material.
