Certainly not a lack of interest, P.J., I'm building the same boat. I simply cackle-ated (a process less precise than calculation) about 27 1/2" between stations. I also foreshortened the forms, 14", and assembled them on a 12' 4x4, mounted on Post-Ups in the back yard. The 4x4 is topped with 5" wide base fo plywood (for the Putz feet to stand on) then on top of that is two 8' 2x4's that mount the actual forms. I leveled carefully fore and aft, but neglected to level transversely, making it a night mare to level the forms. I will either justify the purchase of a digital level, or shim the 4x4 level. From this set up I plan to derive three boats: one with 3/8" Dow Foamular skin between yellow pine keelson, chines and sheers, similar to the SOF; one with 3/4" Foamular panels a la S/G, and make patterns for a true S/G using 1/8" doorskins. Beyond their various beginnings, all three will finish conventionally with 6 oz F/G and epoxy. The idea is to find a light weight lily pond boat to carry everywhere and drop casually into "waters of opportunity" as I find them. Except that I had the perfect 4x4, I also considered using my aluminum ladder for a strong back, your choice will be more rigid than mine. Re: the S/G patterns, Mark reminded me to make only two patterns, from one side, then mirror them. The patterns will be made by locating stringers on the forms, covering with poster board and crawling inside with a pencil! In each boat, the cockpit area will be sistered with 3/4" Foamular as is similar to the bullet-proof tub in a fighter plane's fuselage. If the first boat is good, I may paddle off and later build a heated tent over the strong back. I always look forward to your posts of the wee hours of the morning, and invite any comment.
