These responses are accumulating a lot of decorative techniques now, (several paints, stains, inlays, walpaper appliques, etc) but none has sufficient detail as a how-to. I haven't begun my kayak yet (I'm still fiberglassing my sunk-n-salvaged canoe) but motivation comes from envisioning the old and new boats and how I will personalize them. Obviously some of these methods must go on bare naked wood; others would only stick on epoxy. Should it be sandwiched between layers of epoxy, or between epoxy and polyurethane? Could you laminate on plastic decals? Would one of the knowledgeable people on this list put together a FAQ on hull decoration? Or refer me to a book chapter. Thanks!
