I took a 5 inch wide x less than 1/16th thick piece of red cedar bent it into an ellipse, flattened it out on end for the back rest, glued it together and by adding lamination till it was 3/16" thick made a shape remarkedly similar to Mark's. I will admit mine is shorter which makes for a tight fit. The was used to make a form on which all my coamings are made.
