I named my boat, and she still floats! She is named Kulia which is hawaiian for "to strive or to try hard¨
If you want the name to be seen by others, keep it short, like 5-6 characters. long names are hard to read from a distance. Use a good sized font that can be seen from a passing boat.
Although I did see a kayak named...
ToyBoatToyBoatToyBoatToyBoatToyBoatToyBoatToyBoatToyBoatToyBoatToyBoat
and I kind of liked it. He actually had the letters running along the keel from bow to stern.
