Those are the rubber hatches, right.
I saw them surface mounted on a Pigmee(sp) boat and they were ugly, but I guess they seal nicely. I'm not sure how they would look recessed, but it should be fun trying to recess them in that cambered deck.
In short they would not be my first choice.
