I'm building a CLC Patuxent 19.5 and, it being my first as well, I had a couple of bad scarfs as well.

The one that had a 'lip' showing (ie it was overlapped too much ) I took it apart with a spatula and rescarfed no problem.

The one that low ( ie it was not overlapped enough ) I filled in with thickened epoxy and sanded it smooth. The lines are fine, the hull is fair, and it looks good enough to varnish!
