I used fiberglass & tinted epoxy. It was a 14' boat. Very light & stable. And yes it worked out well for thhe 4 of us + dog. Limited our use to flat water & nice weather. It wa fun to build. We now paddle kayaks & have use a 17' Coleman in the river during low water conditions. I'd guess that plans for a larger canoe should be available. Good luck.
