Get Charlie Walbridge's "Boat Builder's Manual". It is about building fiberglass kayaks (for white water but so what). It is the bible for composite boat construction, recommended reading no matter if your building strip, stitch & glue or whatever. Good info about materials and layups. Probably somewhat outdated but not enough to notice.
