I don't know anyone who has strip built more boats than Ted Moores. (Canoecraft) He uses West epoxy and wets out glass on to bare wood.

I tried both ways with no noticable difference with the outcome except that prior wetting out takes a lot longer.

He brushes it on which adds more epoxy than a roller. Then he squeegees off the extra later. I like this method. I lke putting plenty of epoxy on the cloth to insure the wood is good and soaked. Then you squeege the cloth just before the epoxy statrts setting up.

He describes all this in his excellent book (Canoecraft) Make sure you pre-heat the room several hours before glassing and drop down the temperature a bit as you start . Raising the temp allows air to release in the wood fibers - dropping it down will stop it.
