The bow of the Chesapeake is a bit higher and a bit wider so it will ride somewhat better - but at 17 feet its really not in it's strength. I agree the rudder may be out of the water but I was thinking about trying to run the wave similar to surfing (along the break) - can that be done in a whitewater kayak? or does the lack of directional control stop you from trying to edge along the wave. I imagine that wave play boats have some skegs and longitudinal ridges to aid in tracking
