Looking at this kayak has given me a few ideas. Has anyone seen similar plans?
George - Would your strip built whitewater kayak (http://www.robertscpa.com/kayaks/boat_5.htm) have similar characteristics-size, volume, (clearly a lot lighter)? (Assuming that you added thruster skegs and possibly edge strips to aide with tracking and cornering ability) Do you have S&G plans for your whitewater boat? (or could I try to convert your plans by eye?)
As I said, The idea of an ocean surf kayak has me highly intrigued - I actually spent a few hours ploting out a rough shape on paper (my wife was not impressed). Unfortunately I don't have CAD capacity on my computer.
I'm thinking of a 10', low volume, 24" wide. S&G with lots of rocker mild V-hull in the bow and a relatively flat stern hull. Thruster skegs for tracking. Hard edges to the hull (additional edge strips?) to provide cornering ability.
Does anyone have any suggestions??? Clearly I would need some serious strength given the anticipated use, but right now I'm more interested in design suggestions.
