I've been reading this BB for 3 or 4 weeks and really enjoying it(even the occasional ranting and raving). The amount of information you all impart is amazing. I'd love to build a wood kayak (probably one of the Pygmy kayaks) but haven't got the room or anyplace where I could make a lot of noise and mess with fiberglass, apoxy and a sander. Must admit that time and low frustration tolerance are also factors. A few weeks ago someone posted info on a Sea Bright plstic kayak and it sounded interesting becuase it was light and supposedly easy to build. Well, my kit arrived today. It's supposed to take 8 hours to build and not require sanding or anything other than putting together pieces, clamping and caulking with silicone. The designer, Joe, told me that he was sorry that he didn't have the hull coating that he now uses when he first sold the kayaks about 2 years ago. I told him about this site and to get on line and interact with all you engineer types and do it yourselfers - Let you know how I do with the Sea Bright.
