This is consistant with my thoughts. I was further encouraged to lift the bow higher up when I was paddleing out in the waves this wkend - I intentionally went out into a rough zone with incoming tide and river outflow meeting with 3-4 waves and chop. Surfing one of the wave I really buried the bow, it kept going deeper until even my front hatch was underwater, then the overall bouyancy lifted me up and back and off the face of the wave - little scary, but still fun! Anyway, a raised bow makes sense.
Additional note, I read part of Seaman's book the Essential Sea Kayaker and decided to try a roll yesterday - I was successfull on my 2nd try. I wasn't even sure what had happened when I popped up, I was so sure it would take a lot of time to learn that I couldn't believe I just went and did it. In the end I completed ~ a dozen rolls, the only technicality were my water filled sinus's.
