I have built a couple of feathered paddles by making them in two halves then joining them on an appropriately angled scarf joint. Alternatively you could use the take-a-part ferrules available from Newfound Boatworks or Chesapeake light Craft. These let you switch between feathered and unfeathered.

I am toying with the idea of constructing a shaft of 1/8" to 1/4" laminations. It should be possible to put these together and give the whole thing a twist before the glue drys that will be "locked in" once the glue cures. The tricky part will be keeping the laminate bundle together while I twist.
