To twist it, you could clamp one end loosely in a vice (allow the panels to slide, but hold the end from twisting. Then make a three foot long wrench out of 2X4's (Like a giant tap wrench). The wrench would be a 2x4 or 2x6 with a square cutout in the center which slips over the other end of the stack of panels.

You could use fabric dye on the layers to make a rainbow, if that's not too gawdy for your taste.
